Before you start clicking all the tools in your preferred photo editor, you must first know the basics. How do you think can you achieve that award-winning photo if you do not know what tools to use for it to be enhanced? If your photo editor has a “tips” or a “help” page, then you might want to read and try the things written there. You also might want to experiment on your own and familiarize yourself with the buttons and their purposes (self study). Resize, crop adjust brightness and image contrast are the fundamentals of any photo editing program.

Lightings

March 15, 2008 on 7:33 pm | In photoeditingtips | No Comments

Lightings are one of photography’s essential aspects. The quality of a photo is very much dependent on the lighting when the photo was taken. If you are out in the sun, your photo can be very bright if your shooting angle is wrong. On the other hand, if you are using artificial lights, your photo can be very dark if the lighting is not sufficient. Lighting can also set the “mood” of the photo. Have you seen black and white photos that have limited lighting? It exudes mystery right? Same goes with colored photos.

However, some amateur photographers sometimes commit the mistake of bad lighting. What they can do is they can edit the lighting of the photo to make it look superb.

Now, since there are hundreds of photo editors available in the market, this can confuse beginners as to what they will choose for them to make that award-winning output. What you can do is you can search the internet for photo editing program reviews, and if you have found a “highly recommended” program, you can try it if it works for you. You have to be at ease in using the program because even if the program is “highly recommended” yet, you don’t know how to use it, you won’t be able to create stunning photos like the one you have in mind.

The Advantage of Digital Photography in Image Editing

February 15, 2008 on 7:28 pm | In photoeditingtips | No Comments

Most people who are new in photography question the experts, “what’s better? Analogue or digital photography”? Their differences are actually obvious.

Digital photography allows the person to transfer his or her photo on another device (i.e. computer) immediately after the photo was taken. However there are some disadvantages. Since it is “digital”, the capability of the photographer can be questioned. Unlike analogue cameras, you can edit your photo’s quality if it is digital. Analogue users can too, however, the quality of the photo can be greatly reduced if the photo was scanned (RGB and scanner’s DPI issues).

Nevertheless, digital photography is promising. The person has to have an eye for creativity and a knack for innovation for the edited photo to look excellent.

In photography, although black and white photos are elegant in their own respect, most people prefer colored photos over black and whites. However, shooting in colored photos can have some complications of not done well. Your photos won’t be attractive if the colors are not vibrant. Have you seen photos with dull colors? Aren’t they unpleasant to look at?

If you have colored photos with dull colors, you can edit it with the used of photo editors. You can tinker and tweak with the RGB of the editor to modify your creation. It can even change the “mood” of your photo (having bluish lighting etc.)!
